Is transportation from the lodge to the hunting areas included?
- Yes, on a fully guided hunt, you will ride with your guide to the hunting area.
What do you suggest for gratuities after the hunt?
20%+ of the total bill split between the guide and cook is customary.
We do not accept credit cards. The final balance will need to be paid with either a check or cash.
Do I need blaze orange for hunts on private land in Texas?
Orange clothing is not needed to hunt any animals except quail. All of our land is private and Texas is one of those states that doesn't require hunters to wear hunter or "blaze" orange when hunting on private land. We do require our quail hunters to wear orange caps or head gear and suggest that they wear additional orange on shirts for extra safety measures.
What clothing do your recommend for hunts?
- We recommend snake guards for most all of our hunts.
Here are a few recommendations that we enjoy wearing:
TURTLESKIN SNAKEARMOR REVERSIBLE SNAKE GAITERS by Turtleskin Danner
SHARPTAIL SNAKE BOOT Men's Sizing. 17" - Camo washed in scent free laundry detergent is recommended for hunting deer and hogs.
- Turkey hunters camo and hunting gear recommendations are camo from head to toe (including gloves and face mask)
- Weather during our Turkey season can be cool in the morning and warm in the afternoons so multiple layers are good.
- Kickstand turkey vest or a turkey lounger chair is very helpful as we move a lot and there isn’t always a tree to lean against.
